Can I Get Laser Hair Removal While Pregnant?
Laser hair removal is a highly sought after procedure that involves using a combination of heat and light energy to damage hair follicles so that they no longer produce hair. Women are especially interested in laser hair removal and frequently undergo it across several areas of the body. As long as a patient has dark hair, they are generally a good candidate. However, many patients asked, “Can I get laser hair removal while pregnant?”
No, it is not recommended that women undergo laser hair removal while pregnant. Due to ethical concerns, there have been essentially no studies on whether or not laser hair removal during pregnancy is safe. Due to this lack of research, providers generally err on the side of caution and recommend that you do not undergo laser hair removal while pregnant.
Northwest Face & Body policy also will not allow our providers—including master estheticians—to treat pregnant patients. This is for our patient’s safety and we are happy to treat patients once they are no longer pregnant. While we also will generally not treat nursing patients, a conversation may occur concerning procedures such as laser hair removal.
