How Many IPL Treatments Are Needed For Results?
IPL stands for “intense pulsed light” which uses light to target unwanted pigmentation in the skin. Similar to laser treatments, IPL uses light to address the areas of elevated melanin. Thus, it is often indicated for treating sun damage, birthmarks, and spider veins. Like with other light-based treatments, patients usually require multiple treatments for optimal results. So, how many IPL treatments are needed for results?
Firstly, it depends on what the patient wants to treat. Certain conditions may require more or fewer IPL treatments. In general, patients can expect to undergo between four and six IPL treatments spaced about four weeks apart. Though, some patients may require more sessions if treating particular severe discoloration.
Additionally, sometimes broken blood vessels or spider veins respond well within two to three treatments. Though, a master esthetician may still recommend completing the series of treatments for the best results. Certain conditions may also require recurring treatment over several years. Though, after the initial sessions, patients can usually undergo one to two sessions a year.
