How Often Should You Get A Facial Peel?
Facial peels–also called chemical peels–use small amounts of acids to help rejuvenate the skin. It causes the skin to peel away the outer layers of dead or damaged skin to reveal newer skin underneath. Peels also induce a collagen response which helps the skin improve itself both internally and externally. So, how often should you get a facial peel?
Since peels contain ingredients that are more abrasive and potentially irritating or damaging when administered too often or incorrectly, most people can safely undergo a chemical peel about every six to eight weeks. For light peels, it may be safe to have them done once a month. Certain deeper peels can only be performed on a yearly or bi-yearly basis, but we do not perform these at Northwest Face & Body.
If you have particularly sensitive skin or certain conditions, your master esthetician may recommend peels at less frequent intervals. This is best determined during your consultation and following your first chemical peel in Bellevue.
